Happy 75th Dad!!

~ This is an old picture but I love it ~

Well tomorrow is my Dad's 75th Birthday!! 2 years ago we didn't know if he would make 73 and here we are about to celebrate 75!! God's is so GOOD!!

How will he celebrate...by going to Regina to get the final measurements in one eye for Cataract Surgery that will happen August 31st. Happy Birthday to him!! I know he can't wait until the 31st when he will be able to see again (at least out of one eye, second eye will come soon after).

August 16th is MRI day, so with that we hope that the BEAST is gone or at least has shrunk or not done anything. If that is the case we are really hoping the Oncologist will grant him a Chemo Break so his body can rejuvenate from all the poison he has taken in. We have noticed of late that he is quite quiet (not much to say), his memory isn't as sharp, and when he is tired he walks bent backwards at the waist (which he doesn't realize when it happens). My hope is if he gets a Chemo Break his Brain will rewire itself and heal these crazy occurrences.

We celebrated his birthday last week at the camper with a steak dinner and homemade Carrot Cake (thank you Janet for the ingredients).

I am also praying that Mom can get some respite. She and I have had Thermea Gift Certificates for the past 3 years that we have yet to use. She doesn't want to leave Dad alone, so I don't know when we will be able to actually use them. I want her to be able to enjoy herself and not worry about what is going on with Dad. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Austin looked a bit different this year as Dad wasn't really involved with the tractors or parade. Uncle Curtis and Elliot did manage to get his tractors to the museum so at least they were on site and people could look at them. David brought my Grandfather's tractor as well and brought it thru the parade. It definitely wasn't the normal Minneapolis Parade people are use to but a couple went thru every day. One huge highlight for Dad was having his Brother Albert and his wife Shirley come for a day. It was awesome to see the 2 of them together and Dad being able to share his hobby with his Kid Brother. Thank you for coming Uncle Al and Aunt Shirley (hehehe). This picture is a picture of Uncle Albert looking on as some of Dad's equipment works in the field (I just love this shot)!!

They have decided to sell their camper, as Dad can't really do the maintenance of it anymore. David does what he can, but this to is a headache/worry for Mom. I hope they will be able to find something smaller (maybe a little motorhome) so Mom is more comfortable with driving it, setting it up, maintaining etc. It sure will be different camping in Austin if they are not there. That is our halfway point to visit them, and enjoy every moment we spend with them there.

All in all we have so much to be thankful for and to celebrate...MY DAD IS 75 TOMORROW!!
